Leg 2 of cruise M192 started successfully.

The Constructor University team of leg 2 (Jianlin Liao, Andrea Koschinsky, Annika Moje, Eva Meckel, Julia Oliva) and Charlotte Kleint from MARUM in front of the ROV SQUID.

After the exploration of shallow hydrothermal vents in the waters south of the Greek island of Milos during leg 1 of cruise M192 (led by Dr. Solveig Bühring from MARUM), leg 2 is dedicated to diving down to the discovered sites and sampling of fluids, gas, rocks and biota with the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) SQUID from MARUM. Our team is already working on hydrothermal fluid samples recovered during the first successful dives, eliciting the secrets of hydrothermal processes at the seafloor from its chemical composition.
