Research interest:
After my interdisciplinary studies in environmental sciences, I initially focused on research in different areas for several years (ecological food web of periwinkles, crabs and algae in rocky mudflats; methane processes in Arctic permafrost soils; the low thermal fluid circulation between seamounts and its impact on biogeochemical processes). In addition to assignments in the field, at sea and work in the laboratory, I gained experience in scientific coordination as a doctoral student and PostDoc and since May 2016, I have now been pursuing research coordination fully at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel in the research area Marine Biogeochemistry. Tasks include, in particular, supporting the head of the DeepSea Monitoring working group in the research coordination of the numerous projects and representing him in his role as initiator and advisor before and during the application process, if required.
During my postdoctoral fellow time in Andrea Koschinsky’s working group, I have been teaching in the Integrated Environmental Studies (IES) program and assisted in its organization and program development. Further, I assisted in the acquisition of external funding. I participated in several research cruises for the group and carried out sample analyses in the geochemistry laboratory of Jacobs University and in the laboratory of the collaborating partners of Marine Geochemistry at the Alfred Wegener Institute in Bremerhaven as a visiting scientist.
