Purchased through our project DSSII<\/a>, we have recently acquired two new instruments to expand our capabilities for in-situ measurements during research cruises. An OS316 CTD and a Voltammetric In-Situ Profiler (VIP). The CTD is equipped with sensors for conductivity (salinity), temperature, pressure (depth), oxygen, pH, and eh (redox potential). The VIP allows us to do in-situ voltammetric measurements of truly dissolved concentrations of copper, cadmium, lead, and zinc (and potentially further metals with future method development) at depths up to 6000m. With these measurements, we will be able to trace particle plumes in the ocean and complement our laboratory measurements of trace metal concentration and speciation. The instruments will be fitted for deployments in the MARUM trace metal rosette (TMR) to acquire water column profiles as well as for independent deployments for example on seafloor landers for timeseries measurements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
